Area Collections
LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
2344   imageAsia, Postal History Accumulation, About 350 covers and cards in a box. About 250 covers are equally split between British and Independent Asia. The British Asia includes Burma, Ceylon, Hong Kong, Malaya, Pakistan (about 30), and Singapore. The Independent Asia includes China (mostly R.O.C), Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Philippines, and Thailand. These two areas are primarily from the 1950s to the 1970s except for Ceylon, which has earlier items. Most of these are Airmail covers with multiple frankings with Registered mail and some postcards. A considerable number of items in this lot were mailed to Australia. The remaining 100 items are housed in a Lighthouse cover album composed mainly of turn-of-the-century Japanese postcards. The majority of these are with stamps favor-cancelled on the image side. The rest are early 1870s-period postal cards with a wide variety of cancels and some genuinely used postcards with Japanese foreign mail cancels. There is considerable value here given the high popularity of Asian material. Condition is Fine to Very Fine with very few faulty. Worth a look and a bid given the possibility of finds and the very reasonable start bid. Shipping charges apply - weight 5.8 lbs. (Image) (Image2) (Image3) (Image4) (Image5) (Image6) (Image7)

2353   imageLatin America, Wide-Ranging Postal History Collection, 1900s-80s, About 1,100 mostly non-philatelic covers, postal stationery items, and postcards from Central and South America, the Latin Caribbean, and Mexico, housed in a large box. The time period is from the early 1900s to the 1980s with the majority in the 1940-80 period and the greatest value being in the earlier post-1900 material, especially the postal cards and covers. Argentina makes up the greatest bulk of the lot with 325 items, 50 of which are early postal cards and covers. This is followed by Chile with over 140 items, 67 of which are early postal stationery. Then Mexico with 104 items including better earlier postal cards. These are followed by Venezuela and Colombia with about 100 items each. The remaining countries make up the rest in smaller quantities. Good value in the postal cards, Registered, WWII censors, multiples, and Airmails mostly sent to different cities in the US and Europe. An excellent lot for the right person and what this lot may not have in high value items is made up for in the sheer quantity. Excellent group for a collector wanting to expand their collection, for the show dealer or the internet seller. Condition is Fine to Very Fine with a few covers with faults as is typical in such a large grouping. Worth a look and a bid given the possibility of finds and the very reasonable start bid.
