strip of 3 with Retouched Left Frame & Shading on Map above NW Coast of WA [Pos 1L55] ACSC 5(1)z, light gum bends mostly in the left margin also slightly affecting the lower-left unit, the lower units with wayward centring, unmounted, Cat $6000+ for
a No Monogram strip of 3 mounted and three unmounted singles. Peter O'Rourke's strip of 3 (Lot 33) - some toning; one unit mounted - sold in 2020 for $3760. The 'Artemis' unmounted strip of 3 - slightly better-centred - sold at our auction of
1.12.2021 for $5428 (Sale 246 Lot 19).
This is a technically important piece, being a precursor to a later substitution: the flaw on [Pos 1L55] developed a 'Comet Trail' Scratch across the WA coast in early Third Watermark printings ACSC 7(1)ka and was replaced with the the Die IIA
