9d violet with the Watermark Inverted ACSC 25a (SG 27w) Plate 1 marginal horizontal pair from the left-hand side of the left pane,
the left-hand unit with unlisted Shading Line Breaks (Extra Island) SW of Tasmania above 'N' of 'PENCE' [Pos 1L25], the Inverted Watermark clearly showing from the face in the margin to the left of the left-hand unit, well-centred, a trivial gum mark
in the margin does not in any way detract, the left-hand unit unmounted, the right-hand unit very lightly mounted if at all, Cat $21,000+ for singles (£10,000+ for mounted singles).
The ACSC states that "Approximately 12 mint examples (including a block of 4) ... are known". Every bit as fine as the 'Lionheart' unmounted single that sold at our auction of 2.5.2014 for $13,800 (Sale 189 Lot 8). (Image1) (Image2)

9d violet ACSC 25 (SG 27) Plate 1 right pane No Monogram corner strip of 3 ACSC 25(1)za, well-centred, very fresh unmounted, Cat
$35,000+ for mounted. Unique & superb.
It is not often that a unique item is also "best in class", this being superior to any other 9d No Monogram or Monogram strip illustrated in all the auction catalogues we have reviewed. Additionally, both Second Watermark No Monogram strips are
substantially under-catalogued. Although the ACSC does not give details of the examples recorded, the Arthur Gray catalogue (edited by Geoff Kellow, the editor of the ACSC) confirms that each is the only one known. Yet they are priced at less than
the First Watermark strips, of which at least three examples of the left pane are known (see Lot 228 above). Ex Arthur Gray - sold in 2007 for US$32,200 (A$44,700+ at the time) - and Peter O'Rourke; sold in 2020 for $37,600. (Image1) (Image2)
