lower two rows of the upper-left pane - including the No Monogram corner strip of 3 - and the upper two rows of the lower-left pane, the bottom row left-hand unit with Break in Right Leg of final 'A' of 'AUSTRALIA' [Pos 2L7] and the right-hand unit
with 'ROSTAGE' (First State without Weakness over 'US' of 'AUSTRALIA') [Pos 2L12] ACSC 1(2)d & e, before the Retouch over first 'N' of 'PENNY' [Pos 1L58] was made, generally well-centred, lightly mounted or with a small hinge remainder in the margins
only, the stamps all unmounted, Cat $23,000+ for six mounted intersheet pairs, the listed varieties mounted and ten unmounted singles.
A rare item from the first printing for which counter sheets of 240 (four panes of 60) were issued to major post offices. The ACSC states that two complete uncut sheets exist - one in the Royal Collection, the other in the Australia Post Archival
Collection - and that "Smaller pieces also exist, including a block of 48 and a severed double strip of 24 (with watermark inverted)". This block is apparently not recorded by the ACSC. Arthur Gray's block of 6 (3x2) including three Intersheet Pairs
and the No Monogram corner strip - sold in 2007 for US$5460 (A$7500+ at the time). (Image1) (Image2)
