55z, fresh colours, the right-hand units with tiny hinge remainders, the upper-left unit lightly mounted, the lower-left monogram unit unmounted, under-catalogued at $50,000 in footnote 3.
The ACSC states that "Monograms ... are extremely rare. The surviving pieces are believed to comprise : CA - three mint singles (one in the [Australia Post Archival Collection]) as well as ... two Specimen pieces [including] ... a block of 4 with CA
monogram". Four examples only are available to the market, two of which have 'Specimen' handstamps. We believe that a block of four with 'Specimen' handstamps should be rated at least as highly as a non-handstamped single, priced at $175,000. Greg
Pope's 'Specimen' handstamp 'CA' Monogram single sold at our auction of 24.1.2004 for $38,080 (Sale 108 Lot 128) and in 'Dubois' (I) for CHF25,620.
