The 'Belama' was in service between 1911 & 1921, when it was wrecked on Santa Ysabel. It was replaced by the 'Ranadi', on which this cover was apparently posted. Faisi, near Shortland Island, was part of German New Guinea but was never developed by the Germans. In 1895, the island was sold to Nicholas Tindal, then mortgaged to Burns Philp, who took over in 1906. During WWII, Faisi was the first of the Solomons to be occupied by the Japanese. Ted Proud states that Sabderat (1) opened 9.3.1910 as a Telegraph Office only; upgrading to PO is not recorded. The office apparently closed in 1922. Agordat is situated in Eritrea which was colonised by Italy in 1889. It is a small inland town that was occupied by the Italians from 1893. Sabderat is 140km almost due west of Agordat.
