1921-28 KGV 'Star' with 'POSTAGE' 1d green + KGV 'Star' without 'POSTAGE' ½d orange Doubleton ACSC ES44 window-face envelope for
'Berlei Limited, Sydney' with imprint on the reverse and 'AUSTRALIAN ENTERPRISE COUNTS ON AUSTRALIAN SUPPORT' at the base, used 1924 with Sydney 'BRITISH EMPIRE EXHIBITION/ALWAYS ASK FOR/AUSTRALIAN PRODUCTS' slogan cancel, small opening faults at
base mostly on the reverse and minor bends & blemishes, Cat $3500. The ACSC states that "For Berlei Ltd, Sydney at least six envelopes are recorded". As the printing records do not show any use of the old 'without POSTAGE' ½d Die in 1924, the ACSC
postulates that the envelope was inadvertantly printed with a 1d Die instead of the ordered 1½d; when this was noticed, it was immediately corrected by adding the old ½d Die, and the envelope listed simply as a 1½d. A similar envelope also with
opening faults at base - but with a different slogan at the base - sold at our auction of 5.8.2021 for $1121 (Sale 245 Lot 387). (Image1)
