MARIEHAMN/9.IV.16' backstamp where re-addressed to mainland Finland with 'HANGA .../10.IV.16' arrival backstamp, very fine. A truly extraordinary origin/destination item. A very rare usage of a Gratuitous Letter Card in New Guinea. Neil Russell advised that there were only seven New Zealand POWs in Turkey, all captured during the Dardenelles Campaign. Very few items of mail have been recorded to or from the New Zealanders.
