'ANTIGUA ST', 'CASTLE/STREET', 'CHARLOTTE/PLACE', 'DUKE STREET', 'ELM ROW' very fine complete on Stars 1d on 1855 outer, 'HANOVER STREET' largely very fine complete on Stars 1d on 1857 envelope, 'INDIA STREET' x2 on Stars 1d x2 on double-weight
entire to Galashiels, 'LAURISTON/PLACE' largely very fine on Stars 1d Blued Paper (very attractive) on 1854 outer, 'LEITH WAL[K]' very fine on Stars 1d on 1855 large-part notice, 'LONDON STREE[T]', 'NICHOLSON/STREET', 'PITT STREET' & 'STOCKBRIDGE'

POSTMARKS: Scots Locals 'ARDENTINNY' boxed handstamp largely very fine strike in blue on QV Line-Engraved Stars 1d red-brown on
1857 envelope, another lesser strike also in blue on Stars 1d on 1857 envelope to Dunoon partly overstruck by Numeral '163' of Greenock in transit, and very fine to superb complete despatch backstamp on 1859 envelope with Stars 1d tied by Greenock
'163' experimental duplex, each with light file folds and/or minor adhesion marks, plus a photograph of the township. Ardentinny in the district of Argyll in Glen Finnart, is located on the western side of Loch Long. Merideth gives the period of use
of this marking as 1857 to 1859 only (twelve examples known, only some of which are on entire). For the period 1854-1860, Scottish post offices were officially authorised to use their undated name stamps as cancellations.
