1950 Stamp Centenary 2½d Sydney View & 2½d Victorian Half-Length die proof of the se-tenant pair SG 239a in the issued colour on
pinkish paper recessed in cardboard presentation mount (99x85mm), boxed 'CBA/NOTE PRINTING/BRANCH' cachet in violet on the reverse endorsed "6" and "5.7.50", minor blemishes on the reverse & a stain on the flap which is folded to the back, Cat $4000.
The impression is superb. Ex Arthur Gray: sold for £780. The ACSC states that eight examples were produced, one for the Royal Collection. Number 6 was presented to the Postmaster-General HL Anthony.
Despite generally being produced in similar quantities, the KGVI period presentation proofs of 1947 to 1952 are much scarcer than those produced between 1954 & 1963. (Image1) (Image2)
