POSTAL HISTORY: 1938 (Apr 6) long OHMS cover with very fine strike of the 46mm 'QUARANTINE STATION/6APR1938/KAMARAN' cachet in
violet & signed "MBenjamin", to London with Dhows ½a block of 4 (on the reverse) & 1a tied by Indian-pattern 'KAMARAN/7APR38' cds, large-part boxed Empire Air Mail Scheme boxed cachet on the reverse applied on arrival, two vertical folds clear of the
stamps. The addressee, W&E Moore Ltd, was a firm of engineers. Kamaran is a low-lying island in the Red Sea, close to what is now the Yemeni coast.

Ohio USA "via PanAm of Africa" with Seiyun 2/- Kathiri House pair tied by Aden cds, superb 'LAGOS/21SE/42/NIGERIA' transit backstamp and part-strike of the Lagos half-circle 'CENSO[RED]' cachet, minor wrinkles. We have not previously seen the two
American markings and Doctor Google states "There were no US Forces stationed in Aden during WWII". According to the Pan-Am Africa website, the route was India-Middle East (Aden?)-Sudan-Nigeria-Gambia-Brazil-Miami. (Image1) (Image2)
