1943 (circa) Japanese Occupation Prisoner of War Camps undated Australian cover processed at Melbourne to "Tai Camp/Siam" [sic]
with Japanese Red Cross 'roundel' in rosine, unusually without Japanese censor or han, pencilled "Lang", ironed-out central vertical fold. "Lang" may be an abbreviation for Lang Suan, a town on the Thai Isthmus near the Burmese border. More
intriguingly, it may refer to Langkawi Island, Malaysian territory that lies only some 30km from the Thailand/Perlis border. The Japanese certainly occupied Langkawi during World War II. (Image1) (Image2)
