1943 (June) cover airmail to Pennsylvania USA with 1a 3a 4a & 1r pair tied by light Calcutta cds, bluish/pink 'V' (= Valuable)
label on the reverse, badly damaged in the crash of BOAC 'Hudson' at Khartoum on 16.6.1943 & returned with 'DLO/BOMBAY/25AUG42' backstamp, repaired with re-sealing labels & roneo'd 'Salvaged air mail Cairo-Karachi/despatch No 65' label affixed (at
Bombay?), re-forwarded with 'MIAMISEP/29/1943' transit & very fine 'PHILADELPHIA/SEP/29/1943/REGISTERED' arrival backstamps. A real enigma. Items from this crash with the erroneous label are well-known. However, Nierinck states that no details are
recorded. A brief online post states this was the first of two crashes at Khartoum within two weeks. Was it really forwarded from Bombay DLO to America or is the DLO marking of 1943 (which would make more sense)? (Image1) (Image2)

1944 (Nov 28) British 3d violet POW Airmail Postal Card to No 2 Camp at Chungkai Thailand but received after Japan had surrendered
and redirected to "No 9 IBGH/Ranchi" (= Indian Base General Hospital) with Indian-pattern ' 305 /15NOV45' arrival cds in magenta, minor peripheral damage. Ranchi is in East Bengal. Both FPO 305, and the '305' cds are not recorded by Ted Proud, who
states in Volume III at page 303 "...571 to 600 and 611 to 620 were manufactured in this type in error and supplied to the Army Postal Service". Apparently a modern Indian rarity. (Image1) (Image2)
