1937 (Nov 16) Hudson Motor Car Co (Sydney) cover endorsed "Australia-Hongkong-USA" to the Head Office in Detroit with rare franking
of Kangaroos CofA Wmk 10/- grey & deep aniline pink (brilliant fluorescence under UV light, Cat $750 used; unpriced on cover) & 2/- maroon plus NSW Sesquicentenary 2d x3 and a further 1/4d in stamps lost in transit, 'VICTORIA/23NO/37/HONG KONG'
transit backstamp & light but legible 'Received in bad condition at/Honolulu Hawaii' handstamp in violet, minor water-damage & wrinkles (barely affecting the 10/-). The rate was 4/8d for the first ½oz + 4/7d for each successive ½oz x2 = 13/10d.
A conundrum: with Brian Peace's detailed review of the various legs, and his conclusion that "Records of aircraft schedules do not reveal an incident which could have caused the damage". Not recorded in Volume Three. (Image1) (Image2)
