1892-99 Tablets essay for a new 'TAS' Watermark bit in red ink with borders for two panes of 60, 'TASMANIA' four times in the
margins & the first 'unit' only with diagonal 'TAS' on dark tracing paper (286x276mm), handstamped '5JUN91' at upper-right, central reinforced split where folded for single-page display; also copy letter of "June 5th 91" from the printers' records
offering to prepare a new dandy roll at their own expense in time "...to be used for the two new duties, 2½d and 5d...", and the Agent-General's reply accepting the offer. Unique. Ex De La Rue Archives.

1870 (Dec) social cover to Victoria apparently posted aboard ship with First Sidefaces 1d (with Double Perfs at the Base) & 2d
cancelled on arrival with very fine '1'-in-bars, the reverse with very fine 'MELBOURNE/DC/20/70' & 'CARLTON' arrival of the same day, repaired flap fault & a little aged. The stamps were issued 1.11.1870 but this item from 7 weeks later is stated to

1871 large piece (200x143mm) from a registered parcel to Kent with remarkable Three-Issue franking (faults) of VDL Imperf 4d & Perf
10 1d x2 and 'TASMANIA' Imperf 6d & 1/- (cut-to-shape) all tied by BN '63' of New Norfolk, private 'BOURNBANK/Parish of/Wellington' h/s & 'N NORFOLK/22 4 71' postmaster's provisional h/s, sloping 'TOO-LATE' h/s applied at Hobart, a few repaired
edge-tears & parts of the address label removed with the registration ribbon. Endorsed "Printed Book with Photographs..." & signed "Molesworth Jeffery" which permitted mailing at the concessional rate for a "book packet" + 6d registration. A famous
item. Only six items recorded bearing the 6d registration rate that applied between 1871 & 1880. Ex Randall Askeland, Patrick Reid & David McNamee.
