1929-30 'AIR MAIL' Overprints Ash Printing 3d black & blue-green as SG 114 with Overprint Double (unlisted). RPSV Certificate
(2010) states "the lower overprint is a forgery". Sold at our auction of 25.3.2011 for $303 (Sale 163 Lot 452).
In his book on the Airmail Overprint Varieties, Ray Kelly illustrated this stamp - and two others showing the same characteristics - and stated at page 44 "...[they] are far more likely to be genuine than fakes". The book was published in May 2011,
and remains the key reference. It is telling that Ray also plated the three stamps as [Pos 1 2 & 3], with this stamp being [Pos 2] on the sheet, and showed them as a rejoined strip. (Image1) (Image2)

1930 Aeroplane Overprints Harrison Printing 1/- sepia & deep olive as SG 117 but with the Overprint in Deep Carmine, lightly
mounted, minor gum tropicalisation. Still unlisted in Gibbons. Rosenblum states (page 43) that "At first, a deep carmine was selected, but after only about 10 sheets of the 1/- had been printed therewith, the colour was found to be too dark, and for
all subsequent printings the colour was a lighter carmine-red". With a normal stamp for comparison. [The number of stamps we have seen with Deep Carmine Overprint suggests that the quantity overprinted in this colour was greater than the 10 sheets
(400 stamps) indicated by Rosenblum and repeated by Croaker, which supports the case for a separate listing in Gibbons] (Image1) (Image2)
