881 L image1865 (Sep 23) complete 'The Australasian' newspaper unusually posted to Tasmania with Netted Corners 1d yellow-green tied by a light BN cancel, generally poor condition requiring lots of tender-loving-care but the address panel is presentable. Ex Dale Forster. Very such newspaper usages have survived, and a very high percentage of those are to Great Britain. (Image1) (Image2)

The Printed Matter rate was ½d within Victoria and 1d to the other colonies. (Image1) (Image2) (Image3)

884 c image1902 (Nov 5) Gollin & Company Merchants envelope to India with 5d brown & 6d green tied by largely fine 'ENGLISH MAIL T.P.O.' duplex cancel used on mail posted directly onto the Melbourne-Adelaide train to catch steamers en route, 'TUTICORIN/20NO/02' transit and Calcutta arrival backstamp of 25NO02, a couple of minor blemishes. The rate was 2½d overseas letter + 6d late fee for an article posted after 3pm at Spencer Street Station (posted elsewhere in Melbourne, the mail would not catch that day's train to Adelaide). 889 # image1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d deep dull blue SG 3b, margins close to good, ironed-out vertical crease at left, large-part original gum, Cat £3250. Rare. [This is one of those stamps that is very difficult to identify. More telling than the shade is the quality of the printing whereby the Swan is poorly defined against the background. This was the first printing so should be listed as SG 3, not 3b. Genuine examples are scarcer than the more popular "slate blue" and should be worth significantly more] (Image1)
