including a strip of 4 and two possibly unused singles, 3d x30, 5d x14, 6d x115 including a huge aniline mauve shade, Major Pre-Printing Paper Fold and Double Perfs at Top & Right, 8d x56 including No Watermark (small faults) and Wmk 'OUT' Only and
one with ''[RE]GISTER[ED]/ [BR]AIDWO[OD]' cancel, and 1/- x72 including three pairs, condition variable but many are fine to very fine. Specialists should inspect.

1872 South Kensington Exhibition Diadems proofs taken from the original dies comprising 1d in black (on India paper), 1d in
carmine-lake, 2d in bright blue and 3d in yellow-green, all with large margins on thin wove paper; and Large Diadems 5d in violet, 6d in red-brown and 1/- in carmine, all with margins just clear - at the sides - to large on thin wove paper. A very
colourful and delightful set. Ex Guy Hutson: sold for £4560.
The 'Carrington' set (excluding the 1d in black), all on larger pieces of "thick card", sold after the auction for $13,980. It was stated there that "...three sets of proofs were pulled...a second set is in the British Library", and this appears to

1890 Reprinted Die Proofs of the Unaccepted Larger Design Type E (water-wings or "floaties" at the sides), on thin cream wove paper
(43x48mm) in black, deep violet or vermilion, and on thick white wove paper (92x83mm) in blue-grey, bright violet, bright yellow-green, myrtle-green, carmine, dull orange or dull red, the last two with minor blemishes clear of the impressions
otherwise very fine to superb.

1861-88 5/- Coin colour trial in vermilion on ungummed unwatermarked bright emerald surfaced paper, reconstruction of the two
right-hand columns from the badly damaged & dismembered sheet of 50 (10x5) comprising upper-right & lower-right blocks of 4, the central pair & a vertical single at lower-left, the five units at right with varying degrees of Dry Ink, one horizontal
pair creased, damage in the upper & lower margins but all impressions except the lower-left unit are fine to very fine, rejoined with quality hinges. A dramatic survivor. (Image1)
