American sailor to his mother, Indian-pattern 'RAF POST 8/30.SEP.45/S.E.ASIA' cds, the reverse with New York arrival of OCT15/1945, '.../RETURNED TO BLVD STA' cds of 18.10.1945 & 'Not in Directory/Boulevard Station/CANNOT BE FOUND' cachet both in
purple, "Broome County" added to address with a further New York backstamp of 20.10.1945, unusually fine. Petty Officer Lowell Swartz survived the sinking of USS 'Houston' in the Battle of the Sunda Straits on 1.3.1942. Most of the survivors were
