 1941 (Nov 20) censored airmail to "CSR Quarters/Lautoka/Fiji" with 1/6d Hermes tied by Sydney cds, 'CALIFORNIA/CLIPPER' cachet,
Suva transit of 25NOV41 & Lautoka arrival of two days later, minor blemishes. Carried on the last through PanAm Trans-Pacific service, the second of only two that called at Fiji, per 'Auckland' ex Auckland 25.11.1941. Because of the Japanese attack
on Pearl Harbor, the service was suspended 7.12.1941, the day before the next service was to leave New Zealand. Commercial clipper covers to Fiji are very scarce and desirable. (Image1) (Image2)

 1941 (Dec) large-part distressed airmail cover-front to England with KGVI 3d x2 - singed, a third missing - tied by 'AIF FIELD
PO/NO 24' cds in use at Hama in Lebanon (Proud "Not Seen), endorsed "Accidentally Burned/in Transit/28.12.41 [initials]", remnants of four British PO repair labels. On 27.12.1941, a bag of mail was damaged in transit between FPO 24 & FPO 21 at Rayak

(double-rate), etc, condition variable but most are fine to very fine.

 1944 (Mar 6) registered cover with 5d Ram tied by 'RUSSELL STREET/VIC' cds & 'AR'-in-oval handstamp, remarkably still with the Avis
de Reception card (franked with KGVI 3d blue Die III) stapled to the reverse, 'UNCLAIMED/AT CLIFTON HILL' cachet in violet & returned. Covers such as this are common, and the AR cards are common, but we can't recall seeing another one with the card
still affixed. It highlights how cumbersome the process was: the card had to be folded back each time a backstamp was applied. (Image1)

+ 3d registration. An American historical website states the 5th Fleet was stationed at the time at Owi in the Schouten Islands which are a remote group north of Dutch New Guinea, but American HQ was in Brisbane. (Image1) (Image2)

'PYMBLE/NSW' cds, the reverse with Lisbon transit of 3OUT44, Spanish black/white 'CENSURA GUBERNATIVA/MADRID' label (damaged on opening) with large boxed 'CENSURA/ 5OCT1944/ S ' datestamp & Madrid arrival of the next day. A fascinating cover. At this
time, mail for America was sent by sea. From -.1.1942 the rate for air USA-Portugal was 1/11d for the 1st ½oz + 1/10d for each successive ½oz: triple-rate was 3/9d; quadruple-rate was 5/7d. By 8.11.1944, the rate was 1/6d per ½oz. Was there an

 1946 (circa) parcel piece (145x95mm) with complete Cadbury-Fry-Pascall address label with printed 'DO NOT EXPOSE TO/SUN OR HEAT',
from Tasmania to Adelaide River (NT) with KGVI 3d purple-brown pair and 6d Kookaburra tied by faint Hobart parcel-roller, redirected twice within the Territory, the label stained. We love this! A package of chocolate, sent to a military dentist, in
one of the hottest parts of Australia. Perhaps the melted contents caused the staining on the label. The rate was Forces parcel 1/- up to 3lb weight. (Image1) (Image2)
