1902-10 KEVII De La Rue Printings 1d scarlet SG 219 overprinted 'C.A.' horizontal pair, light horizontal crease not evident from
the face, lightly mounted. Rare, especially as a multiple: sold at a Sydney auction in 2009 for $440. Forerunners to the 'CofA' perfins of various patterns used at Australia House in Aldwych. Considered by some to be intended for paying stamp duty on
receipts, but postally used examples are known (a used single sold at auction in 2010 for $1375). [See also Lots 1360 and 1379]
