3519 E image1972 Christmas (Missionaries) preliminary artwork for a vertical Bishop Verjus design in watercolour & oil with Chinese white highlights (160x230mm) on thin artboard (255x332mm), various artist's notations including "The Original Design for the Missionary Series for PNG. Graham Wade designer 1972", plus 'Papua/New/Guinea' acetate (157x83mm) endorsed "...used to produce the final lettering in Gold ink/Graham Wade". Ex Roger Lee. [Henri Stanislas Verjus was among the first non-British missionaries in Papua. In the mid-1880s, he engaged in exploration of Papua's eastern coastal & inland regions]
