1966 Decimal Surcharges '2c' on 2d Lagunaria Flower with '2c' Surcharge Omitted in pair with normal SG 61a being the right-hand units
in a complete horizontal strip of 10 with margins at each end, a couple of minor tonespots in the margins only, unmounted, weak perfs between some units but the variety and adjoining unit are not affected & very fine, Cat £3000+ for the pair. One of
the foremost errors of Norfolk Island.
[Collas & Breckon at p64 state "One sheet had the first overprint (silver panel) in the right position, but the '2c' overprint was omitted from the right-hand vertical row of six stamps." It is important to note that this is a genuine 'Overprint
Omitted' error and not just the result of the overprint being misaligned. Stephen Bradford's similar strip sold at our auction of 9.11.2002 for $2760; another similar strip sold at our auction of 7.2.2009 for $5405]

1969 Captain Cook Bicentenary Transit of Venus original artwork prepared by Victor Whiteley for Harrison & Sons comprising 1) finished
design (140x88mm) almost exactly as issued with hand-painted map overlaid by portrait of James Cook, sextant & lettering on acetate, the backing board with order number and stamp & gutter dimensions added in blue pen; 2) mock-up (167x115mm) of the
map lines and spaces for the portrait and sun in black on acetate; 3) mock-up (165x125mm) of the oceans & continents in black on acetate; and 4) mock-up (142x214mm) of the sextant & lettering in black on white cards pasted onto acetate, minor tape
staining mostly at the edges. Plus a 1998 letter from De La Rue Security Print (successors to Harrison & Sons) archivist confirming the design by Victor Whiteley from sketches by JG Gowan. A marvellous group chronicling the evolution of the design
and of great interest to thematic collectors also. Our vendor paid £550 in 1998 (invoice enclosed).

1975 Second Settlement die-cut self-adhesives 10c Ship 'Mermaid' & 35c Kingston self-adhesives progressive proofs in black & in close
to the issued colours, roughly cut by hand to the desired shape of Norfolk Island and affixed to black Walsall Security Printers presentation cards (113x127mm), a little light staining from the mounts on the reverse visible from the face. With the
issued stamps for comparison: on the proofs the denominations are larger in red on the 10c & in mauve on the 35c, for the issued stamps on the 10c the inscription 'HM Survey Cutter/MERMAID' was re-set, and on the 35c 'KINGSTON/1835' was moved to the
left. A very desirable group that were absent from Stephen Bradford's collection. Ex Garrard Family collection; sold for $1035.
