1877 og imageJAMAICA: 1938-52 KGVI Pictorials 5/- 'Isle of Wood and Water' (satyr beside small waterfall) Line Perf 14 SG 13var, well centred, lightly mounted, Cat £7000, for unmounted. A superb example of this major Commonwealth rarity of the reign of KGVI. Ex 'Dubois' (Hugh Wood) Part II: sold for £2880. [In -.12.1940, De La Rue's printing works were destroyed by German bombing during the Blitz. The surviving stock of unperforated stamps was sent to Watford for perforating. A few sheets only of the 5/- were processed using an old single-line perforator. It is believed that only about 12 mint examples have been recorded. Graham Cooper's marginal example with Plate Number '1', also mounted, sold in 2016 for £2520]

A terrific item for a collection of Scouting or Maps. Ex De La Rue Archives and 'Dubois' (Hugh Wood) Part II. [There are several small differences from the issued stamps. Notably, the portrait is on a lined background, instead of the plain field as issued. NB: KGVI died 6.2.1952. The decision was made to proceed because there was insufficient time to create new dies and plates with the Quieen's efigy]
