602 c image1924 (March 10) Western Australian Airways 'On Airways Service' envelope to Pennsylvania, USA with QANTAS black/green 'BY AIR MAIL' label (Frommer #8d, $200 on cover) affixed at upper-left and KGV 1½d green & 4d blue with Flaw on Kangaroo's Legs [Pos 2L55] tied by partial 'CARNAR[VON]/WESTERN [AUSTRALIA]' cds, a few light aging marks. The rate was 3d foreign letter (reduced from 4d on 1.10.1923) x3 plus 3d per ½oz domestic airmail surcharge. Although the item was ½d underpaid, it was not taxed.

604 long cover image1924 (Dec 20) long-format cover to "Solicitor, Ozone Hotel, Queenscliff" (Vic) posted directly onto train with KGV 1½d red x3 tied by a fine complete strike of 'T.P.O 19/VIC' cds used on the Melbourne-Port Fairy Line and another two indistinct strikes alongside, annotated "Contract of Sale", slightly truncated at left & minor aging marks. The rate was 1½d per 1oz domestic letter x3. [Molnar & Waugh (2015) state that "there are only two recorded covers dated September 11, 1924 and December 20, 1924, giving it an RRRRR rarity rating"]

606 c image1927 (Dec 22) TH Nicolle (stamp dealer) envelope to New York, USA with the flap unsealed and KGV ½d orange pair tied by Sydney cds, very fine Sydney 'POSTED/OUT OF/COURSE' boxed handstamp on face, a couple of hinge remainders on the reverse hardly detract. The rate was 1d per 2oz foreign printed matter. Presumably posted into either the 'City' or 'Country' box at the GPO instead of the 'Foreign' one.

The rate was 3d foreign letter plus 1d Late Fee for posting on ship.

608 c image1930 (Feb) two covers to England carried on the RMS 'Comorin' both with KGV 1½d red Die II solos, one tied by 'HURSTVILLE/21FE30/NSW' cds with very fine complete 'DAMAGED BY FIRE/ ON SS COMORIN' unusual large-format unboxed h/s in black on face (possibly a variant of Hoggarth & Gwynn Type 2 or 3 without stops), the other a Baptist Book & Publication Department, Adelaide envelope with 'DAMAGED BY FIRE/ON/S.S. COMORIN.' boxed h/s in violet (Gwynn & Hoggarth Type 7) on face and cut-down British resealing label on reverse, characteristic immersion faults but otherwise very fine. [On 12.3.1930, while the ship was at Colombo, a fire was detected in the hold. It was extinguished by flooding the hold with seawater]  (2)

613 c image1930 (Dec 23) Reel Cabs 'The Aristocrats of the Road' advertising envelope with all-over Art Deco illustration of city street & classic taxi automobiles on the face and 'Returned Soldier's Auto Co' & old phone number blocked out replaced by new 'B2222' number in red on the reverse, used locally with KGV 1d green tied by Brisbane machine cancel paying the printed matter rate (flap now stuck down), a couple of very minor blemishes. One of the most attractive advertising covers from the period.

614 c image1932 (June 11) Hunter & Company General Salesmen Aramac envelope airmail to Brisbane posted directly onto train with KGV 1d green pair and Sydney Harbour Bridge 3d blue tied by three very fine complete strikes of 'T.P.O. No.1 CENTRAL/QUEENSLAND' cds, early QANTAS airmail etiquette at lower-left, Brisbane '12JNE/1932' (next day) arrival backstamp, a couple of minor blemishes. The item was presumably sent by train to Longreach about 130kms SW of Aramac and then flown by QANTAS to Brisbane, some 1100kms SE of Aramac. The rate was 2d domestic letter plus 3d per ½oz airmail surcharge. A lovely train/plane combination.

617 c image1935 (Oct 2) airmail to Hobart, Tasmania with KGV 1d green & 2d red pair tied by Melbourne cds, carried on the Holyman Airways DH86A 'Loina' which crashed on approach to Whitemark aerodrome on Flinders Island, delivered with "Recovered from Air-Liner/"Loina" in a saturated/ condition" typed endorsement and largely very fine strike of 'SUPERINTENDENT OF MAILS/ 6OCT1935/GENERAL POST OFFICE, HOBART' double-ring d/s in violet on face, Hobart cds on reverse, remarkably fine with only minor immersion faults. [Both pilots and the three passengers on board were killed. Three bags of mail (for Whitemark, Launceston & Hobart) were recovered two days later. The Hobart mailbag contained 145 items, all bar a handful of which were able to be delivered. With photocopies of three newspaper clippings decribing the crash and the recovered mail]

618 c image1935 (Oct 2) airmail to Campbelltown, Tasmania with KGV 1d green & 2d red pair tied by Melbourne machine cancel, carried on the ill-fated Holyman Airways DH86A 'Loina' which crashed on approach to Flinders Island, delivered with very fine strike of 'DISTRICT POSTAL INSPECTOR/OCT 6 1935/LAUNCESTON' double-ring d/s in violet on reverse and also on the accompanying typed explanatory letter signed WJ Kearns, light signs of immersion in sea water. With three original newspaper clippings describing the crash and the recovered mail.  (5 items)
