½d Green Large Multiple Wmk ACSC 65 (SG 48) - Electro 5 continued...
LotNo. Symbol Lot Description Estimate in AU$'s
221 og/nh image½d green Substituted 'CA' Monogram right corner strip of 3 ACSC 65(5)zd in an inter-panneau block of 27 (9x3) including Cracked Electro from Left Wattles to Kangaroo's Arm [Pos 5L46] and White Flaw below 'P' of 'POSTAGE' [Pos 5L47] but prior to appearance of the Thin Fraction at Right [Pos 2R43], a few minor marks on the reverse mostly in the lower margin, some perf splitting between the right-hand column & margin with perf-reinforcing on upper-right unit, the other units all unmounted, Cat $2150+ for a mounted monogram strip of 3, the two varieties mounted and 22 unmounted singles. The ACSC states that the Thin Fraction bump retouch "was undertaken by Harrison prior to his first printing from Electro 5, probably at the same time as the substitution of the 5L46 Cracked Electro" [our emphasis]. This piece disproves that assertion: the substituted monogram clearly shows this to be a Harrison printing, but the Cracked Electro is still present and the Thin Fraction has not yet appeared. A very important piece in the development of Electro 5.

The ACSC states of the 'CA' monogram both sides strips from Electros 4 & 5 that "approx- imately 20 strips of 12 have survived [in total]" [our emphasis] but does not give a break-down between the electros, nor does it state how many are known in complete sheets. One of the most important items in the collection.
