685 c image1964 (July 17) usage of 'Greetings/from/Radio Australia/[map]' postcard with printed message in Chinese characters on reverse, airmail to Indonesia with Zoologicals 6d Banded Anteater solo tied by Melbourne slogan cancel, 'PRUWOREDJO' & 'MALANG' transit cds on face but undeliverable and returned to sender, a couple of minor corner bends. The South-East Asia airmail postcard rate was 6d.

687 PSE image1966 (Feb 7) usage of QEII 2/5d Registration Envelope Helecon Printing airmail to England with QEII 2d x2 & 1/6d Galah added tied by 'BATCHELOR/NT-AUST' cds (very fine b/s) and blue R label alongside, Darwin transit b/s, a couple of very minor blemishes. 688 long cover image1966 (June 9) long cover airmail to UK with Navigators $1 Flinders & $4 King tied by 'FREMANTLE/ WEST-AUST' cds, light central fold not affecting stamps. The Zone 5 airmail letter rate was 25c per ½oz; it is possible - but unlikley - that the item correctly paid twenty times the base rate for an item weighing up to 10ozs (280g). This is only the third 'on cover' usage of the $4 King that we have recorded (as opposed to use on parcel tags without address); the other item offered by us - a registered sample sending with Navigators $1 $2 & $4 pair - sold at our auction of 2.12.2021 for $9145.

691 PSE image1967 (Oct 10) Forces in Vietnam usage of QEII 5c indigo 'DEFENCE FORCES ENVELOPE' to NSW with 'AUST FPO/ 5 ' cds used at Phan Rang, sender's address "Wg Cdr AT Cadd (034366)/No2 Squadron RAAF, Aust FPO 5/C/- GPO Sydney", with 'invisible ink' sorting marks of Redfern Mail Exchange on the reverse, undercatalogued at $200. Very scarce postally used.

692 c image1968 (Aug 13) airmail to England (flap unsealed) with Flowers 13c solo tied by Cooma (NSW) machine cancel, taxed with Sydney boxed 'T ["24/7c"]/2G' h/s in violet, on arrival British 'LIABLE TO/LETTER RATE' & 'TO PAY ["2/7"]' h/s in green applied on face and Postage Dues 3d and 4d single & block of 6 affixed on back tied 'EASTBOURNE/20AU/68/SUSSEX' cds, minor blemishes. The sender had paid the 13c Europe Greeting Card rate, which was not accepted; the letter rate was 25c per ½oz so the item was taxed 24c for double deficiency.

693 c image1968 (Aug 12) Forces in Vietnam home-made wrapper endorsed "[Audio] Letter Tape Only" registered airmail to Australia with 30c Waratah solo franking tied by 'AUST FPO/ 3 ' cds used at Vung Tau and boxed rubber 'R/AUST FPO 3' registration cachet in violet alongside, minor blemishes. The concessional Other Articles rate was 8c per 2oz (specifically including audio cassettes) + 20c registration fee. [A very scarce usage, albeit with 2c convenience overpayment. On 1.10.1968, the free mail privilege for personal correspondence - including audio cassettes - from & to Vietnam was introduced).

694 c image1969 (April 28) registered airmail to the Netherlands with Navigators $2 Bass solo franking tied 'RUNDLE STREET/STH AUST' cds and blue R label alongside, Adelaide transit b/s but no arrival marking, unpriced (unrecorded?) in the ACSC for solo usage. The Zone 5 airmail rate was 30c per ½oz plus 25c registration fee; the item most likely weighed up to 3ozs and was thus 5c short-paid. [The $2 is especially tough to find on envelopes small enough to fit neatly on an album page]

697 c image1971 (August 10) usage of 'United States Armed Forces - Vietnam' illustrated envelope showing map of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia & Thailand by registered airmail to the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation at Sydney with Flowers 30c Waratah solo tied by 'AUST F.P.O./ 1' cds used at Saigon and boxed 'Aust FPO 1 / R.' registration cachet in violet alongside, Sydney '11AU71' arrival b/s, minor blemishes. The rate was 30c for the registration fee only (increased to 50c on 1.10.71); free mail for personal correspondence from & to Vietnam was introduced from 1.10.1968, but ancillary services such as registration required payment.
