1842-O
Small Date G. Comprising only a small part of the New Orleans mintage of that year (769,000), Larry Briggs has estimated only 200 to 250 remain extant in all grades, thus it has long been considered the rarest New Orleans Seated Quarter, a fact
well-reflected in the price guides. The present example is well-defined but there is a solder blob in the center of the reverse. O/w an even medium-grey and very acceptable for such a rare date. (Image) (imageb)

1851-O
AG. The coin appears stained, but wear is even and it maintains decent detail. Bowers has noted that it usually comes with very weak head detail and lightness on the obv. Not an impossible date, but from a mintage of only 88,000 relatively few remain
today. (Image) (imageb)

1857-S
NGC AU53 a beautiful original that could have graded higher. From a tiny mintage of only 82,000 Bowers has opined that this issue is scarcer than all neighboring S-Mint issues in mid-grade. If you like Seated Quarters w/ nice eye-appeal, this one
might be for you. (Image) (imageb)

1858-O
PCGS XF45 an attractive white coin. Bowers has commented that decent examples of this issue are surprisingly scarce since most show heavy wear. AU coins are hard to find.

1864-S
Fr-2 perhaps AG. Extensive (but even) wear is the only issue with this coin. Hard to imagine that a coin this worn would not have any other damage. From a mintage of only 20,000 Bowers notes that this issue is exceptionally rare today and those that
do exist are heavily worn. Even lower-grade specimens carry 4-figure price tags. (Image) (imageb)

1870-CC
AG. A decent looking AG for such an incredibly rare coin. Date and mintmark are very clear, wear is even, and color is excellent. There is a very old small (2 to 3mm) gouge @ K10 on the rev (through the S in STATES), o/w a very acceptable example of
one of the key dates in the series. Bowers has opined that this is the rarest issue from the Carson City Mint save for the 1873-CC No Arrows. 8,340 was the total mintage, most circulated in the dusty Carson City area, and by the time they began to be
collected (around 1900), the overwhelming majority were either lost or completely worn out. (Low mintages were the order of the day for the Carson City Mint in the early 1870s; so much so the the same reverse die was used to produce ALL the CC coins
from 1870 thru 1873. Even in the lowly grade of Good, the 1870-CC has a greysheet price of $7,800.) A great opportunity for the Seated Quarter enthusiast. (Image) (imageb)
