Lot 159 - 1893-S ANACS VF30 Details Cleaned. Grey color on surfaces that maintain an original appearance. The diagnostic die scratch on the T in LIBERTY is plainly evident. The 1893-S is a scarce coin in any grade - prohibitively so in AU or higher. The undisputed king of the Morgan $1 series, the original mintage was only 100,000 the overwhelming majority of which entered circulation as silver dollars were used in daily commerce on the west coast during the time of this coin's striking. Highlights of the sale include: an 1839 over 6 Large Cent, an 1877 Indian Cent, a 1916-D Mercury Dime, an 1882-O Morgan Dollar in ICG MS66, an 1893-S Morgan Dollar, original rolls of 1899-O Morgan and 1922 Peace Dollars, plus many nice groupings and collections. Gold offerings are highlighted by an 1852 $10 in NGC AU53 and 1890-CC $20 in ANACS AU50. Commemoratives feature a 1928 Hawaiian, a 1938-S Oregon Trail in PCGS MS67 with rainbow toning, plus a 1952 Washington-Carver in NGC MS67.
