Red 20mm wide surcharge with "Republic Of Hawaii" serifed, "C" showing outer trace of black ink, faint purple cancels, bold color, F.-V.F., listed (erroneously in mint condition) but unpriced in Scott catalog, ex-Honolulu Advertiser.

THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE THE 1893 25¢ REVENUE WITH 20¢ GOLD & RED DOUBLE SURCHARGE WITH SINGLE "C" LETTER ADDED.

The reason for adding a "C" in the overprint is not clear. In the two known examples, the "C" overprint is in combination with the 20mm wide red experimental surcharge. In both, a single "C" was printed below "CENTS".
