Durkee and Co's Advertising Covers. 2¢ green and 2¢ red postal stationery entires with images of an array of kitchen products from meat sauce to flour, each with different wording on the covers, the first reading E.R. Durkee & Co's, Absolutely Pure Condiments and Aids To Cooking, the second, The Standard Aids To Good Cooking Throughout the United States, Very Fine and choice, a very attractive and scarce matched pair.

863       image1899, Multiple Factory Overall Advertising covers. Group of three covers one from Beloit, Wisconsin and the other two from Elgin, Illinois, in two different colors, the first in purple the second in light green, all franked with 1894 2¢ carmine type III, images of factories from various manufacturer lined up creating a border leaving a rectangle in the middle for the the name and address, "W.Mosely Designing and Engraving, Elgin,Ill". imprint at bottom, some small opening flaws on one of the covers, overall Very Fine, a very scarce and appealing trio.

Of 24 legal size covers (one unused) displayed on exhibition pages, with all used examples bearing 1¢-3¢ definitives with Schermack type III perfs; includes 5 fancy corner card covers showing various frankings, others with illustrated designs including Hunting Polar Bears, Trapper & Son, Hunter's Cabin, Racoon, Muskrat, Cowgirl Roping Coyote, Red Fox, Fox Stalking Covey of Quail, Black Bear Watching Campers (two different styles), Moose Fighting Coyotes, Reindeer Pulling Eskimo in Sled, Hunters with Dog Sled, Hunting Racoon, Black Bear Scene (two different styles with one duplicate); condition mixed with many nice items, all are extremely rare designs (believed to be 1-3 known).

Whitney, Chair Manager) and 1858 30th Annual ticket (during which the Crystal Palace burned to the ground, signed by Rev. F.W. Geissenhainer Jr.); some minor edge wear and mounting adhesion on first pass, Very Fine, the last ticket illustrated in Bomar Postal Markings and Postal History of United States Expositions (page 8).

Group of four documents relating to the exhibition; includes unused exhibitor "Application For Space" form, an acceptance exhibitor form letter and request for description of exhibit (for Descriptive Catalogue), a December 10, 1853 printed announcement from President T. Sedgewick regarding prolonging the exhibition, and a December 31st, 1853 hand-written letter signed by President Theodore Segdewick to the local committee for the South Western States, Very Fine.

879       imageNew York Crystal Palace. Wonderful detailed illustrated design on mint 1853 3¢ Nesbitt entire (U2) printed slightly over indicia, Very Fine, extremely rare and quite possibly unique unused.
Estimate; $500 - 750.

First Issue Nesbitt stamped envelopes had been issued in July of 1853, just before the Crystal Palace exhibition opened. George F. Nesbitt Co. had a stand at the fair that sold stationery items. This souvenir envelope with Crystal Palace wood engraving cachet was probably one of those products.
