Usual typeset letters in circular handstamp on adversity cover to Pickens C.H. made from typefounder's brass rule specimen book, S.C., no rating, with original enclosure datelined "Pendleton, Aug 16, 1862"; small corner stain, otherwise Very Fine (Stets & Teal Rarity 7).

Dietz wrote regarding this cover…This is one of the most interesting objects I've seen in a long while. The envelope is made from a leaf of a printer's catalog of brass rule, and would suggest that the maker of this cover was a printer. The "Postmark" is a type set form, again indicating that he may have printed a number of these envelopes, which again in turn, suggests a Provisional.
