1702       Mexico, First Official Hidalgo Medallion Block Group. Rarely seen group of mint blocks of 8 stamps each, with O1 Red showing positions 1-4 & 11-14, the O4 green and O6 blue (block of 4) present being the scarcest mint issues of the First Official stamps, O6 block has perforations of 11 x 11, and 5½ x 5½ First Officials are found to be used frequently but any mint First Official is uncommon.

Housed and identified mostly on early quadrille pages; includes collection by printings with mostly used London prints in shades with some mint, mint first Local prints mint including a couple 4d re-entries, similar 2nd Local prints with 1sh shades, mixed */o Cowan paper issues with a section of marginal letters and later issue watermark varieties, re-drawn issues with re-entry studies and a couple large mint panes, 1902 6d & 2sh Provisional printings both */o, few double perf items, 1d & 2d perf varieties page, section of officials including mint high values, etc., also a collection of ½d Mt. Cook used issues arranged by dated townmarks with additional cancellations, some 1d Universal material including mint multiples, some additional mint in sparsely filled stockbook and a nice selection of covers and some additional studies on pages; lots of good material with some better throughout, some pages with the annotations that are attributed to Ken McNaught, worth proper evaluation.
