1653     58 Great Britain, 1870 ½d Mint Block Group. Of 13 mint blocks of 4 of plates 3 - 20 ex-plate 9. Several plates NH (6, 8, 14, 19). Very fresh except one stamp (plate 3) with some toning and plate 6 with crease affecting 2 stamps. An excellent lot and a remarkable assemblage. A few perfs split (plate. 19), o/with F-VF. The Perkins Bacon essays include a set of 4 of the ½d values, various colors, perf 12½ set of 3 of the 1d imperf with blank corner letter square on card, set of 4 of the 1d on gummed, unwatermarked paper plus block of 4, strip of 6 of the 1d in blue, each a different design, a 1d perf 12½ four color trials of the 1½d perf 12½ unwatermarked and a set of 7 color trials of the 2d perf 12½. Also, Charles Skipper and East 1d (2 different) imperf on thin card and 1d rose imperf McCorquodale essay on thin paper, etc.
