226 imageFrance 10¢ Sower Issue - 1906 The Thin-Line Inscriptions, Primitive version - The Thin-Line Inscriptions (primitive version), gutter block of 4 and 4 gutter pairs with millésime "6" in gutter, printing of July 1906 that was put on sale July 28th at noon and withdrawn at 2pm. The printing was unsatisfactory to the authorities who ordered the die retouched. Includes a pair and block/4 with the gutter pairs and gutter block. Couple color variety gutter pairs. 227 imageFrance 10¢ Sower Issue - 1907 Artist's Proof and Color Trials - Master die proof (without numeral value) of definitive type with heavy lines, 1907. When the retouch proved ineffective by Mouchon in October 1906, additional corrections were ordered which were made by the engraver, L'Homme, with new die pulled from the original. 233 imageFrance 10¢ Sower Issue - Bottom Double Pane of 25 with "GC" in Lower Selvage - Late in 1916, a paper of poor quality (GC Paper) was put in use as a wartime conservation measure. It was used for the 10¢ value only during November and December of that year. This lot has a double pane of 25 with plate number and large letters "GC" printed in bottom selvage. A second page holds several booklet stamps (unused, use) on GC paper notating the scarcity of unused booklet stamps. F-VF. (Est $800-1000) (Image) (Image2) (All Images)
