This is a contemporary forgery produced in Palestine / Israel around 1947 by the 'Haganah' Jewish paramilitary organization for use on forged immigration documents into British ruled Palestine. Then others inc Paquebot 1913 & 1925, Boer War 1900 registered, WWII KGVI 1d & 9d Egypt cds, 1940 bisect 2d from Guernsey, 1940s? Boxed 'SS Modassa', WWII Czech Army in GB, 1936 'Army Post Office' from Far East to England endorsed' via Siberia'. Then some more stamps mostly on piece with Constantinople 'C' on QV 2½d mauve, various cds types on Jubilee QV ½d orange, 2½d, KEVII (2), KGV (9). Beyrout on 188 QV 2½d lilac, or KEVII 2½d. St Thomas DWI transit cds on piece with QV 2d blue 4 cnr letters & C51 duplex on 4d & 1/-. Finally Turkish PPC (2) with GB QV 1881 1d lilac with British PO Constantinople cds. SG cat £1465+++ loose stamps, plus large premium for on pieces & especially for covers. Interesting & valuable lot. (29 stamps, 16 covers). 2073 image1871-74 Great Northern Telegraph Company 25c. grey, $1 orange-yellow, $3 green & $10 rose-lilac, sets of 4 both of imperf plate proofs, & of the perf 11½ stamps. Imperf 25c with 'Serie F' serial no, the other imperfs w/o serial nos, while the perf stamps all with 'Serie F' serial nos. Hiscocks 1-4 & 1a-4a, Bft 1-4 & 1a-4a. (These stamps were printed by Waterlow & Sons & depict Professor H.C. Orsted, the Danish pioneer of electromagnetism. They were prepared for use on the Great Northern Telegraph Company's telegraph network in eastern Asia which had installed telegraph lines Hong Kong ? Amoy ? Shanghai ? Nagasaki). Superb condition, imperfs UN as made, perf stamps MNH, pristine never hinged original gum. Of the imperfs probably 2 sheets of 25 of each existed, of which only 1 of the 25c had the serial nos. While of the issued perf stamps only 1 set of sheets of 25 has ever been recorded in private hands from which these originate, & we have never seen any of the issued perf stamps offered for sale anywhere ever before. Extremely important for either the Hong Kong or Chinese specialist, or the collector of world telegraphs. Such sets have sold for $3750+ & $4700+ in our previous auctions. 2019 Ceremuga photo certs.
