Lot 1476 - 1852-53 1d Red-Brown Die I, Alphabet II Plate 158 With Treasury Roulette [KK], SG-Spec #B2a, tied to small cover (evidence of cleaning, damaged flap, adhesions) by poorly struck BN '498' of Manchester (b/s), addressed to Berkeley Square in London with arr backstamp in pale red '(crown)/27AU27/1853', Cat £23,000. BPA certificate (1989). Very few of these originated outside London.....Estimate AU$8,000 Currently AU$ 6,000

Phoenix Auctions Sale - 86

Worldwide Public Auction - April 15-16, 2021

Auction 86 is being held over two days, Thursday 15th April & Friday 16th April. Auction 86 will be live on the net via our own auction systems. Just login as usual and then open the Live Bidding window. This will then give you the ability to bid on each lot just as if you were in the room.
  • Session 1 (lots 1-502) starts at 10:00am (local) on Thursday and commences with Kangaroos and finishes with Decimals and Postage lots. This section features a wide range of shades, monograms, imprints and varieties, with a good mix of single items and group lots. There are some very rare 1d Red shades.
  • Session 2 (lots 503-923) starts no earlier than 1:00pm (local) on Thursday, and contains the rest of the Australian Commonwealth period, including an extremely rare 1966 Xmas imperf at left, followed by Australian Colonies. Postal History and Postal Stationery are in cluded in this session (Postmarks, revenues etc are in session 3 on Friday). Classic collectors will be particularly interested in the desirable Victoria Half-Length and Emblems in this section.
  • Session 3 (lots 924-1433) starts at 10:00am (local) on Friday. It begins with our general collections, Ephemera, PPCs, Literature, Coins Australian pmks etc and continues with Rest of The World to Gilbert & Ellice Islands.
  • Session 4 (lots 1434-1846) starts no earlier than 1:00pm (local) on Friday, with Rest of World starting with over 200 lots of mainly 19th Century valuable and classic Great Britain. As always there is a good range of British Commonwealth varieties
