1940 printed RNZAF air cover Mosgiel to Palmerston North, franked by 13 1940 Centennial stamps (6 x ½d & 2 x 1½d on front, 5 x ½d on back). Initially charged 6d postage due (m/s "T6d"), as the 5 stamps on the back had not been noticed. On arrival,
3 x 2d P Due added on back & canc cds 14 MY 40. The charge must then have been queried, as "T6d" altered to "T1d" in m/s, & "5d refunded" (with initials) added to back. A most unusual refunded postage due cover. Some perf tone.
