1903, Mc Kinley 1 c. postal stationery card, used with machine cancel "NEW YORK DEC 17 1903” to Toronto, Canada, with arrival datestamp (18 December) on reverse, bearing on reverse a complete manuscript message written in the Sherlock Holmes "Dancing Men" cipher devised by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Minor sopiling spots, still very fine. Accompanied by the bound volume of the Strand Magazine, July to December 1903, containing the first first appearance of the Dancing Men. A most unusal and attractive duo.
