1890/1897, Queen Victoria Key Plate ½d green to 10d brown, complete set of seven locally handstamped “SPECIMEN” in violet, Samuel Type SH2, including the rare ½d green, unrecorded in Samuel and one of only six
examples recorded by Bernard Mabbett, large part original gum, fresh colours, small tone spot on the 2d and occasional short perforation, otherwise fine-very fine; accompanied by Mabbett’s illustrated Cameo article “St. Helena - The Halfpenny Key
Type Handstamped Specimen” and supporting research material. (S.G. 46s/52s var)
Mabbett notes that these locally handstamped sets normally comprise only the 1d to 10d values; even the set in the St. Helena Government collection lacked
the ½d. Its inclusion here makes this a very rare complete set. (Image 1)
