804 cover   image1927 (May 21), de Pinedo flight cover from Trepassey, Newfoundland, to London, England, franked with a well-centred 60c black King Henry VII tied by Roma Corrispondenze Ordinarie (22 Jun) c.d.s., with split-ring Trepassy (21 May) strike alongside and second Rome c.d.s. receiver on reverse, endorsed “Air Mail / Pinedo 1927” and addressed to the High Commissioner, with return address on reverse reading “Please return to / Conductor A. J. Fandy (?) / Trepassy Railway / Newfoundland,” light edge faults and aging, but remarkably well preserved considering its journey, a rare supplementary mail cover (AAMC FF-28c), signed Alberto Diena; with 2008 Raybaudi certificate.

Marchese Francesco de Pinedo reached Trepassey, Newfoundland, on May 20, 1927, during his round-the-world flight aboard the Santa Maria II. On May 23, he departed in an attempt to reach Rome via the Azores. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image 3)
