1266 O/og Worldwide image1950s-1980s, lifetime accumulation of worldwide mint and used topical stamps, consisting of many thousands in 26 binders and stock books covering dozens of thematic areas, a mix of used and mint, much being neatly arranged and identified in detail, hinged on home-made blank or on quadrille pages in binders, or in the 5 stock books, a good majority of the material is 1950s/80s, some earlier, featuring dozens of themes and sub-themes including mammals, Year of the Child / Education, fauna, sports, seals/whales, butterflies/moths, biology, geology, birds, water birds, fish, physics, flags, coins, plants, domestic animals, dance, art, and amphibians, with notable accumulations of soccer, children, butterflies/moths, and chess, as well as an unusual range of sub-categories including atomic symbols, molecular formulas and the history of chess in art. The arrangement by topic makes it difficult at times to determine full set composition but of interest, are a number of China and North Korea issues from the 1970s, French Antarctic Territories and a nice set of Virgin Islands #21-28 mint hinged (c.v. $161), also more than 50 covers or FDCs from a variety of countries including China, and the Philippines. The lot includes three thematic catalogues (insects, birds, mammals) to help with identification. Condition mixed as to be expected with an accumulation like this but clean overall and fine or better and of interest to dealers and thematic collectors alike; more than two dozen photos online show a good representation of the lot.
