1240 ng/og/nh Newfoundland imageAccumulation of Maritime & Newfoundland Airways, Wayzata, Labrador / U.S.A. Post Office, and other cinderella or bogus issues, all displayed on two black Hagner stock sheets and four manila stock sheets. The Maritime & Newfoundland service was proposed to be between Newfoundland, Sydney NS and St. Pierre & Miquelon, but the stamps were never authorized by the Canadian government. One flight went to St. Pierre, where all the covers were seized and held for three years. The stamps themselves eventually made their way to the philatelic market, and come in a wide variety of colours, perforations, imperforates, etc., many of which are represented here, plus a cover provided by the company after the fiasco ended. The "Wayzata" stamps (2 here) have an interesting history that involves the Colonial Secretary's Office in Newfoundland and a fantastic scheme to make money, when no service ever happened. The Labrador - U.S.A. bogus stamps were a colourful effort that resulted in a set of four stamps, all of which are included here, with the largest quantity being the $1 map of Newfoundland and Labrador, as singles (x15) and blocks of four (x3). Also includes a poor forgery of the early 15c Aerial Services essay. All the fine or better contents are shown in the online photos. Great for the collector of forgeries or bogus issues (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (Scan 5) (Scan 6) (All Scans)
