LotNo. Symbol Cat No. Lot Description
1041 O/nh/CVR 417-429A imageColorful Collection of the Provincial Arms and Flowers Issues, Including FDC's, 1964-1966, in an album with roughly 60 Vario-style black stock pages, beginning with a mint and used set, and matching plate blocks, with a few varieties noted by the owner. The strength of the collection is the roughly 70 private cachet first day covers (including a few that appear hand painted), with generally 3 to 5 each per issue. We note makers: Pollack, Chickering-Jackson, H & E, Caneco, Harford, and Rosecraft, along with a replacement first day cover. Most are single frankings with a few plate blocks, along with a few that have slogan cancels on the first day of issue. The collection also includes a set of 12 floral cards signed by artist Angus H. Shortt, along with 6 post office announcements for new issues, franked with two stamps per announcement and cancelled at Woodstock, Ontario. Each announcement has a "Birth Certificate" handstamp to denote the new issues. A nice addition for Canada and topical collections. Online scans show a representation, noting a few small faults with a few covers. Overall fine to very fine. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (Scan 5) (Scan 6) (Scan 7) (Scan 8) (All Scans)

1043 O/og/CVR 434/2-ST imageChristmas in June - Mint and Used Collection, 1964 to 2011, consisting of singles, plate blocks and multiples, miniature sheets, booklets (mint and CTO), FDCs and Stick 'N Tic labels mounted on home-made pages in sheet protectors in two binders, in black stock sheets and loose. The contents provide an excellent start to a new collecting area, with most regular issues included in various formats and in all good order, with philatelic pamphlets and other information provided for context and background on the issues. The two binders run from 1964 to 1989, with loose postage and complete booklets covering about half of the issues from then through 2011. Face value of denominations 15c and over is $189. First day covers include Jackson, Canadian Bank Note and Schering along with regular Canada Post issues. 1047 O/nh/CVR 610 imageKrieghoff Commemorative Mint and Used Accumulation in Need of an Exhibitor's Guidance, consisting of well over 2,000 stamps as normal and tagged singles, blocks, plate blocks, sheets (x37) and on covers (both FDC and special events) with many listed varieties present, all in a binder and a sheet file. The owner of this material thought it would become a collection or an exhibit over time, but changed his collecting focus; now it's someone else's turn with the material. The contents include a single with a 1-bar tagged error (Bileski note included, showing his $100 selling price) and both philatelic and commercial covers with regular issued stamps and varieties and interesting ephemera related to the issue, including maximum cards, advertising posters and Post Office Department marketing materials. We saw a Schering cover and one with the first day of a postal code being incorporated into a canceling device. Also included are lists of the profuse varieties that have been found since the 1972 issue date, and articles from The Canadian Philatelist, the BNAPS Elizabethan II Study Group and contemporary newspaper clippings. Sure to be a fun diversion for a collector or exhibitor. Our photos provide an overview of the contents. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (All Scans)

1048 O Perfins imageAccumulation of Private Perfins, 1880s to 1980s, consisting of well over 1,500 stamps on 12 very full, double-sided black stock sheets, in two bags and a number of glassines. The owner set aside every private perfin he got when buying collections, resulting in limited order to this accumulation. We noted several better items including a Bluenose with Sun Life, higher denomination Admirals, a good number of Jubilees and commemoratives from the 1920s to 1970s. We saw perfins from the Ontario Legislative Assembly and the Province of Saskatchewan and companies such as Bank of Montreal, Sun Life, Bell Telephone, Various versions of both CNR and CPR, and WJG, along with the CBC, as well as various positions of the same perfins. There are sure to be finds here for the current collector of perfins, and a great time for a collector looking to get a head start on this fascinating area. Condition is fine or better for most, and we have provided photos for all the stamps on the stock sheets. 1049 O/og/nh Revenues imageAccumulation of Federal and Provincial Revenue Stamps, 1864 to 1967, consisting of many hundreds of mostly used single stamps (we noted some mint hinged and a few NH also, in multiples and blocks) on 11 pages of a new white-page stockbook. Issues include early Bill Stamps, Weights and Measures, Gas Inspection, George V War Tax (including some of the better fractional overprints), 2- and 3-leaf Excise, Customs Duty. Also included are several Provincial Law issues (Quebec, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario) and a page-and-a-half of First and Second Postal Note / Postal Scrip issues along with War Savings, Unemployment, Playing Cards and Tobacco / Cigarette and Telegraph items. There is duplication (x10 or more) of some of the most common material and some can only be considered to be space fillers at best (three Québec Prohibition stamps in particular) though a collector will find items to fill gaps and online resellers will be able to list some right away. This clean and fairly well-organized collection would be a nice start to a new collecting area. Most items are pictured online. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (Scan 5) (All Scans)

1058 O/nh/CVR 1-ST, 2-ST imageAccumulation of Stick 'N Tick Labels and Covers, 1983-1984, consisting of hundreds of labels, in original packaging and loose, plus a black stock sheet with a proof and varieties noted. The 1983 labels came in 12- and 25-packs and multiples of both are included along with open packages still in their attached strips. Identified varieties on the stock sheet include "Double Berries", "Low Berries", and "Flat Leaf." The 1984 labels are in original packages of 12 and loose and there is one single label proof on the black stock sheet; these were sold by Bileski for $50 each. The covers are all privately-prepared, either commercial or philatelic, as no Canada Post products were made available. We did not check for first days or last-day-of-sale postmarks, nor for the various paper fluorescence that exists on the 1983 labels. These issues were the precursors to the discount Christmas card postage of the 1980s and 1990s, and are an interesting back-of-the-book sideline to collect and study. Our photos provide a good overview of the contents. (Scan 1) (Scan 2) (Scan 3) (Scan 4) (Scan 5) (All Scans)

1059 O/ng F1-F3 imageGroup of 47 Used and Unused Registration Stamps, 1875 to 1890s, consisting of one set of unused (no gum) with one each of Scott #F1, F2a, F2i and F3 on a small black stock card and all the used examples of F1 (x18), F2 (x23) and F3 (x2) on a black stock sheet and in black mounts on a quadrille page. We saw a few nice postmarks (fancy corks and targets) and noted various shades but did not check for different perforations. There are some nibbed perforations and other faults including oxidation, and some of the stamps could use a good bath; still this group would be useful for study and to fill gaps in an existing collection. These are generally very good to fine or better and we calculated a Scott catalogue value of $1,554 using values for the least expensive listings. All items are pictured online.
