The 4 covers were taken onboard by the pilot, squadron leader Godfrey, who signed and mailed the 4 in Vancouver after the plane arrived. A bit of wear and creases, overall fine to very fine.

585 CVR 5512 imageUnique Bleriot X1 Replica Flown Cover, July 31, 1955, built by students at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and Arts, Calgary, was flown across the English Channel from Calais, France to Dover, England and return. The flight was made without landing as the pilot did not have permission to land in Dover or to take off from Calais. The cover is signed by pilot Jean de la Bruyère of Edmonton, along with his notations. Listed in ACMN2 as #5512 and unpriced, noting "one souvenir cover known to have been carried and signed but not mailed". Very fine and a unique flown cover.

There are many numerals appearing on more than one denomination, and we did note a little duplication. We also note high rarity factor numbers, such as 16 (RF 8), 30 (RF 7), 31 (RF 7), 37 (RF 8), 40 (RF 7), 42 (RF 9), 58 (RF 7), 59 (RF 7), and more. The quality of the stamps is generally nice, showing a good variety of shades and papers (including Bothwell, etc.), with the odd fault here and there, but the strikes are mostly all clear and readable, with a good number that are socked on the nose. A lovely collection, which is certain to be useful not only to collectors, but to dealers alike. A rare opportunity.
