Back of cover shows a map of the flight path and is franked with a CL13, tied by Red Lake postmark dated DEC.20. The red FED signature on the stamp is from F.E. Davidson, the company's financier. 1190 CVR Great Britain imageTwo Crash Covers Salvadged from Prestwick on December 25th, 1954, the first was mailed from Longon England to Montreal on Dec 22, franked 1sh3d and still has its contents (a typed business letter). The second was mailed from Notting Hill to Montreal on Dec 21st, franked with a 1sh. Both covers have one or more purple handstamp reading "SALVADGED MAIL / AIRCRAFT CRASH / PRESTWICK 25-12-54". These are listed in the 1997 CAS/AMS airmail catalogue at US$75 each on page 272, where they also explain that the British Overseas Airways Corporation Boeing Stratocruiser crashed at Prestwick on Xmas day 1954 killing all on board. 1191 CVR PF19, PF19a imageSeptember 1919 Truro - Charlottetown Exhibition Flight Covers. These two covers are the earliest recorded air mail flights in the Maritimes. Includes a Truro Nova Scotia SEP.24.1919 1PM cover to Charlottetown with a same day 2PM backstamp (150 covers flown), as well as a Charlottetown cover cancelled at 3PM on SEP.29.1919 with a Truro 4:30PM same day receiver (30 of these were flown). Truro cover is roughly opened at top, still both scarce pioneer covers. Also includes original letter enclosed in cover from Truro to Charlottetown, September 24th, 1919. Mailed on JAN.17.1866 (Ottawa broken circle on front) to the Crown County Attorney at St Catharines U.C (JAN.19.1866 red broken circle receiver on back) The cover has a red Receiver General Canada crown logo embossed on the backflap and there is also a small "FREE" handstamp in black at right.
