1052 CVR   imageCollection of Eight House of Commons Postmarks on Cover, 1873 to 1879, all addressed to Henry J. Morgan and all but one contains its original letters, usually pertaining to bibliographical information to help him publish his Who's Who of famous Canadians. We note Davis #s CP-5 (in red, 2 covers, poor strikes), CP-6i (in red, 3 covers), CP-6ii (in blue, 2 covers), CP-8i (in blue, one cover). Most strikes are very fine unless noted. Some staining to a few covers, still a good offering of these postmarks and quite interesting reading. (Scan a) (Scan b) (Scan c) (All Scans)

1053 CVR   imageCollection of 18 House of Commons Cancels on Covers, 1880 to 1905, mostly all addressed to Henry J. Morgan in Ottawa and about half still have their original letters inside, mostly having bibliographical information to help Morgan write his Who's Who of notable Canadians. House of Commons postmarks include Davis #s CP10a, and a variety of other FREE datestamps between CP15 and 20, plus a few without the FREE inside, used to indicate mail was sent from the House of Commons, or received there. A few covers have more than one House of Commons cancels, and there are many with additional Ottawa FREE datestamps. Includes a rare picture postcard from 1905 mailed free-franked, depicting the Irish Guards Band in front of the Parliament Buildings. 1056 CVR   imageCollection of 62 All Different Blackout Cancels, on small size covers, in a cover album, some of which show different dater hub and obliterator combinations. NOV.6.1943 Halifax R-235 slogan, 7 or 8 illustrated advertising covers, a few censored, etc. All cancels have been identified and most covers ideally have corner cards or return addresses. 1057 CVR   imageLovely Grey County Postal History Exhibit, put together long ago by the late Jim Kraemer, and always left intact since then. This exhibit has 96 pages (6 frames) and is on good quality A4 paper. The towns are presented alphabetically from Allan Park to Yeoville, followed by railway post offices of the area. We counted 105 covers or cards, mostly dating from early stampless to the Victorian era, with a few up to QEII. The collector visibly sought only the best quality strikes and items for each town, and has written each page up with opening and closing dates of the post office, a photocopy of the back (or front) as well as good reproductions of the postmarks. There are too many rare items to list here, but we have chosen a small selection of scans to give the general flavour. Additionally, all pages have been scanned and can be seen on our website at sparks-auctions.com/auction-27/exhibits. Some items of note are manuscript (pre-postmarking instrument) markings, Large Queen covers (including two addressed to Sir Sanford Fleming), fancy cancels, many early and late dates (several not reported until now), illustrated advertizing covers (some in full colour), a 6c Small Queen bisect (properly tied, to UK) and much more. Viewing is highly recommended to appreciate the exceptional quality of this collection / exhibit. Also included is a group of 108 covers and cards which have not been mounted yet (some faults on a few of these). St John's), and more. Overall very fine. The entire collection from which this comes from can be viewed on our website at sparks-auctions.com/auction-27/exhibits. 1069 CVR   imageTwo Different United States Royal Train Machine Cancels Dated June 10th, that originated from the Perfect canceling machine in the Royal Train post office and the Universal canceling machine in the main Washington post office. Some covers reaching Washington on June 10th after the Royal Trains had left for New York City, received the Universal Royal Train cancel without periods in USA in the dater hub. Lot includes a photocopy of the report from Leonard Wilmore, the post office mechanic who serviced the Perfect machine in the USA, where he references the Universal machine canceling die prepared for use in the Washington post office, but notes it was noticeably different than the Perfect canceling die Canada supplied the USA for use in the Royal Train mail car. Some ageing, else fine to very fine covers and very scarce cancels, with fewer than 15 of each known dated June 10th. (Scan a) (Scan b) (Scan c) (All Scans)

1071 O   imageBinder Full of Used 2c QV Numerals, all neatly mounted on about 50 mostly double-sided quadrille pages. Starts with an interesting 2-page write-up, followed by a page full of different shades, then by a calendar collection. The 2c carmine is represented by a calendar collection only. Since all of the dates are fully readable, there is lots of postmark interest, such as squared circles, broken circles, different towns, etc. Averaging each page at about 20 stamps, there would be a total of 1,440 stamps, not counting the pages that have very few stamps.
