Lot Descrip Opening
1621 image5th issue 1866, 1 Kr green, 3 Kr red, and 6 Kr blue Mi 51-53, excellent material on four collection pages: two very fine mint ** blocks of four, nine used stamps (one on a small fragment), and four postal items. Mostly fine quality, with minor faults in some stamps. Many beautifully cancelled stamps included, one 6 Kr stamp (220 Frankfurt) is signed: Pfenninger. All postal items feature different rates (3 Kr, 5 Kr, 9 Kr, and 12 Kr). The 5 Kr cover has a horizontal crease affecting two stamps, the 9 Kr cover was sent to Vienna, and the 12 Kr cover was sent to Belgium. Three covers have proper backstamps (the 5 Kr cover lacks an arrival mark). (Image)

1622 image5th issue 1866, 9 Kr brown Mi 54, a beautiful collection page featuring a very fine mint ** block of four, two used single stamps, used pair and a single-franking cover. The pair and the stamp with a Giessen postmark are signed. Overall fine quality, with the typical uneven perforation. The cover was sent from Frankfurt to Halle in 1867, with the stamp cancelled by Frankfurt ring number cancellation 220, and the cover bearing a Frankfurt A. M. Postexped. No4 boxed cancellation. Arrival postmark on the back. The cover has minor peripheral tears and a horizontal crease, but the stamp is in fine condition. (Image)
