Our June Auctions include several thousand lots, ranging from individual stamps and covers to enticing collections. The Dr. Larry C. Parks Collection of Worldwide Postal Stationery concludes our series of sales of this wonderful holding, while our general sale includes many exciting sections (including the Dr. Abraham Wagner Collection of Vending and Affixing Machine Perforations and the Donald Beuthel Collection of Colorado Manuscript Postmarks). The seventh part of the "Erivan" Collection includes many rarities from the fields of Postmasters' Provisionals (both United States and Confederate), locals and carriers, Pony Express, and fancy cancellations, amongst others. Lastly, a specialized sale of the "Erivan" Collection of New York City Cancellations presents collectors with a unique opportunity to trace the postal history of a city over the course of nearly a decade. Specific highlights from our sales include:

  • The famous "Running Chicken" of Waterbury, Connecticut, the most celebrated fancy cancel in American philately (Lot 70)
  • One of two recorded examples of the 2c Uniontown provisional on cover, a gem of Confederate philately (Lot 117)
  • The unique "Chittenden Eagle" fancy cancellation on piece, which has not been offered publicly in decades (Lot 547)
