115 116b, bc image1941 (May) 2s line perf 14¼.  A wonderful upper right corner block of twelve, positions 9-36, with streaky gum which is very fine for the issue, unmounted save for light hinge marks on the selvedge.  Includes HPF #22a lower right scroll with broken tail, a rarity even in hinged condition, outstanding in an unmounted multiple.  Other flaws, some of which are rare in their own rights; HPFs 10 and 11, 12a damaged leaves at left and 12c mashed jewels, 21a trace, 21d trace, 21e, 23 cracked crown support, 24a and 34 crack below Crown base.  Tiny surface blemish on position 24, otherwise in fabulous condition and an absolute showpiece for the issue.  SG 116b, bc, £7850 (Image)

116 116/f image1938-52 2s value, Ludington's study collection balance, intact as sold in his 1999 sale.  Virtually all mint with 22 blocks of four or six and 6 blocks of nine, and numerous singles, a good exposition of the printings with numerous flaws written up, some unmounted.  Accurately identified, as to be expected, including two Plate blocks of the underrated final printing. The blocks of nine have been stored in mounts which have allowed a little toning to develop, otherwise the condition is generally good.  SG 116/f (Image)
